Thanks for all the suggestions. I had originally written the code using tkinter for use on a 3.5" waveshare screen. Some of the sensors that I'm using don't seem to play well with tkinter (NAU7802 board attached to a 200kg load cell) and cause random weird things to happen. I rewrote the core code to use only the terminal and text, and the random weird things went away. Text on the 3.5" screen is kind of small hence the desire to have bash code to set the text font/size prior to running the script. I did find out that using the right click/Preferences/Terminal Font does change it for all windows currently open not just the one it was set in. It also saves those changes so that when a reboot occurs, new terminals will be brought up with the changes.
