I don’t think that is the way to install it on a Mac (but I don’t have one)
The instructions say
To install on Raspberry Pi OS, type
sudo apt install rpi-imager
in a Terminal window.
But you don’t have Raspberry Pi OS on your Mac, you have some version of macOS ?
