DRM is a kernel subsystem - Direct Rendering Manager.
The HDMI display is also being driven through a DRM driver, but it uses vc4 instead of the ili9486 driver.
SPI has a far lower bandwidth than HDMI, but also can update just the pixels that have changed rather than sending the whole frame. As such it advertises a framerate of 0Hz, which I suspect may be confusing Wayfire.
Sorry, but SPI displays are a relatively low priority.
