If you don't get an image on display, then there are 3 components that may be causing the issue.
The display. The hdmi cable. The Pi.

It sounds like you've ruled out the cable, so can you rule out the other two?
Start with no sdcard (or other cables/devices attached) and just power and hdmi connected.
Connecting power should show a diagnostic screen.

Try each of the hdmi ports on the Pi.
Try each of the hdmi ports on the display.
Try a different display.
If you have a different Pi, then try using that with existing cable and display.
